Jonathan Brand has been a dedicated street and portrait photographer for many decades, with work in such notable collections as the Museum of Modern Art and the International Center of Photography. While working in New York City in the 1960s, Brand formed a friendship with noted commercial photographer Gary Winogrand, and for over a decade the two routinely hit the sidewalks together on their lunch breaks, capturing the passing human story and drama in arresting black and white images. Their combined work was the subject of a 2014 exhibition at the Portland, Oregon Art Museum titled "Two Way Street."
