| Mary Ellen Mark has received innumerable awards for her black and white portraits and photo essays documenting cultures around the world, particularly through the faces of women and children. A significant portion of her work was shot in India and her images of Mother Teresa are universally recognized. She has published eighteen books, exhibited in well over a hundred one-person and group shows, and lectured around the world on her work and on the social conditions in various areas she visited. |
